Lingotopia 1.1 is out now!
To celebrate the release Lingotopia is also 15% off for one week!
This is a free update for those of you who own the game already and includes many new features, languages and bug fixes. Here are some of the changes:
- Multiple save games allow you to learn more than one language at a time.
- There are many new words to discover by exploring the city. Some of them will be available on your first play-through, however, some of them will only be visible after beating the game and starting again with your existing vocabulary.
- There is more cause and affect for your actions. You'll also be notified when your answer to a question changes the game's story.
- New languages! You can now learn Arabic by playing the game! There are also many more community translations. Tlingit, for example, is an endangered language spoken in the USA and Canada.
I'm going to continue to support Lingotopia by working on bug fixes and perhaps also some new features. But will now devote most of my time and attention towards my next language learning game. It's a smaller project that should be done by early next year.
Kind regards,
Tristan

Having the same bug others have mentioned with the text and audio spoken by characters not being visible, only leaving the questions and answers. A restart of the game doesn't fix it, nor does restarting game with current vocabularly. Only starting a new game fixes it. Also, menu options sometimes do not function after the dialogue problems start.
Is there any work being done with bug fixes? I haven't been able to get very far over three restarts, although the problem starts while talking to a different character each time. The dialogue gives random words to learn so it's not entirely repetitive, but still frustrating.
This is specifically happening with Japanese.
I can provide screenshots if wanted, or try in another language.
Please fix the bug where audio and text disappears from characters you're talking to, where it is only fixable by starting a new save. I literally thought I was playing a subversive horror game for about ten mins because I had just passed the part where they discussed existence, not wanting to live, and the part asking about fathers and families, which then lead me to specify the meanings of words for "delicious" and other consuming vocabulary, followed by getting to it requesting the meanings of words such as "otherside" etc. I really adore the concept of this project, and would love to play this while practicing on Duolingo as I'm a more tactical learner and this game would be perfect for me.
Just so you know: I’ve got some sort of Unity issue when I run this game which makes it unplayable. The background and most of the assets are rendering as black, including the fonts.
I’m guessing that this might be because I am running Debian 9? If I’m right, might be an idea to bear this in mind next time; if you’re going to make games as cool as this, lots of folks will be sad to be missing out by not having the most up-to-date system…
There is a bug where the text said by characters disappears, along with the spoken lines, leaving you only with the questions and answers. This continues even if you start over with existing vocabulary, but not if starting a completely new playthrough. This makes the game basically unplayable, and rather useless as a learning tool.
oh thats a bug? i figured it was never fleshed out enough for the language i picked
Yeah, definitely a bug. When I restarted and got back to where it cut out the first time, it worked as it was supposed to, only to cut out somewhere else.
